Get to Know MBMAA

The MBM Alumni Association was founded in 1976 during the Silver Jubilee Celebration of our esteemed college. Spearheaded by the dedicated efforts of Prof. Alam Singh, Prof. S. Divakaran, and Prof. D. V. Talwar, the association has grown into a thriving community of over 6000 registered members worldwide.

Our History
Founding and Early Years:
The first executive election of the Association was organized under the chairmanship of Dr.Alam Singh and Dr.DharamVirTalwar as the convener. Initially, Dr.Alam Singh was elected as President but he modestly declined. The Association then elected Dr. S. Divakaran as the first President, Dr. D. V. Talwar as the Honorary Secretary, and Prof. J. L. Kankaria as Treasurer, along with other executive members. The Association commenced its activities by arranging a contributory lunch in honor of Ex-Principal V. G. Garde and Mrs.Garde during the Silver Jubilee function.
Early Activities:
In 1978, the Association organized a felicitation function for the first batch of Diploma holders who completed 25 years. This tradition continues annually, honoring alumni who reach the 25-year milestone since graduation and presenting them with mementos. Similarly, teachers who complete 25 years of service are also felicitated. These functions coincide with the Annual General Meetings of the Association.
Golden Jubilee and Growth:
By the Golden Jubilee Year, the Association had connected with approximately eleven thousand alumni, deeply attached to their alma mater. Membership has since grown to over 5000 members. During the Golden Jubilee celebrations on December 22, 2001, the Silver Jubilee Function of the 1976 Engineering Batch was a significant event.
Building the Association:
In 1987, the University of Jodhpur, under Vice-Chancellor Dr. M. L. Mathur, allotted 600 sq. yards of land to the Association. Dr.Mathur laid the foundation stone for the Alumni Building on January 31, 1990. The first phase of the building was completed between 1990 and 1994, with funds collected during the presidencies of Er. H. Kalla, Er. G.S. Bhandari, Er. R. C. Mathur, and Er. L.L. Surana. The Association has provided 80G tax benefits to donors since 1993 through the MBM Engineering College Welfare Trust.
Membership and Chapters:
The Association boasts 17 chapters in India and 4 chapters in America and Canada, with new chapters in Boston, Los Angeles, and Pali (near Jodhpur) soon to be added. Membership categories include Ordinary Member, Life Member, Fellow Member, and Patron Member.
Honoring Prof. D. S. Bhandari:
The significant growth of the Association, now with over 5000 members, owes much to the dedicated efforts of the late Prof. D. S. Bhandari. A beloved teacher and true guide, Prof. Bhandari’s devotion and sacrifice for the alma mater remain an inspiration to all.
Supporting Our Alma Mater:

We are proud to have arranged contributions totaling over 9 Crores to support our alma mater. Our initiatives include:
• Scholarships: Distributing scholarships to around 1000 students, easing their financial burden and supporting their academic pursuits.
• Awards: Sponsoring and awarding Gold and Silver Medals to meritorious students, recognizing and encouraging excellence.
• Student Adoption: Facilitating the adoption of needy students, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their education.

Reunions and Celebrations:
We organize Golden and Silver Jubilee reunions for respective batches every year, providing a platform for alumni to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate their shared history.
